Essentrics: Fascial Stretching & Joint Mobilization

If you’re looking for a gentle yet incredibly effective way to improve mobility, reduce stiffness, and support healthy fascia, Essentrics is one of my favorite movement systems.

Created by Miranda Esmonde-White, Essentrics combines fascial stretching, eccentric muscle activation, and joint mobilization to help restore balance and flexibility throughout the body.

The movements are slow, controlled, and mindful, making the program accessible to almost anyone.

Where to Watch Essentrics

The easiest way to access Essentrics classes is through Essentrics TV, an online streaming platform that offers hundreds of workouts and live classes.

A subscription currently costs about $20 per month and provides access to:

  • a large library of stretching and mobility workouts

  • classes for beginners and advanced students

  • specialized programs for specific concerns like posture, mobility, or athletic performance

Free Option: Classical Stretch on PBS

If you’d like to try Essentrics without committing to a subscription, you can often find Classical Stretch on PBS.

While the show is often marketed toward seniors, the movements themselves are the same techniques used with professional athletes and Olympians. The pace is simply a bit slower and easier to follow.

Many people find it a great introduction to the Essentrics method.

Finding the Right Instructor

Like most online fitness platforms, some instructors will resonate with you more than others.

Miranda Esmonde-White created the program, but there are many excellent teachers within the Essentrics community.

Some popular instructors include:

  • Miranda Esmonde-White

  • Sahra Esmonde-White

  • Sasha

  • Gail

Try a few different instructors and styles to find the one that feels best for you.

Here’s a few of our faves:

If you’re new to Essentrics, the Age-Related Challenges or Golf Series programs are great starting points because they introduce you to multiple teachers.

And, as with all movement, form is everything! A few minutes making sure you are doing it correctly prevents injuries and maximizes results:

Why I Like Essentrics

Many of my clients are looking for ways to maintain flexibility, improve posture, and reduce tension without high-impact workouts.

Essentrics supports all of those goals while working with the body instead of forcing it.

When practiced regularly, it can be a beautiful complement to bodywork, stretching, and other forms of movement.
